Different types of projection screens

Projectors have existed way earlier than televisions. Even though televisions have made it easier for a lot of people to enjoy movies and consume news, the older projection technology is still superior in a lot of ways. Also, projectors are more versatile. In order to satisfy the different needs of the audience, various types of projector screens are also available. Manual screens

Compared to all other projection screens, manual screens are the simplest and most affordable. Basically, this is a large white nylon cloth that rolls itself into a pulley system similar to the portable screens. But as this type tends to be much bigger than the portable screens, it is not something you would want to carry around with you. And because of their large size, it will be a bit inconvenient to hang them using a normal projection screen stand. Therefore, you will need to fix it on a wall using nails or brackets. Some manual screens can be as big as a large classroom blackboard.

Portable screens

In many cases, a fixed screen can be practically impossible. If you are out camping or want to use your presentation on a stage or a classroom, the portable screen can be really handy. These screens are foldable and will work as a large wall chart. You can either hang it on a wall or use a projection screen stand. This is the best option you have if a fixed screen is not available. Rear projection screen

Normally, the projector sits on the same side of the screen as that of the audience. But in some situations, it makes a lot more sense to project from the opposite side. But for this, you need a special translucent rear projection screen. These effectively work as a television screen. The benefits are that the ambient light level does not affect the picture quality, and also, the audience does not see the projector. Rear projection is therefore useful when you are projecting outdoors in bright daylight. That being said, rear projection screens are not as good as front projection screens when it comes to picture quality.

Fixed screens

As the name says it, fixed screens are just that, i.e., screens that go on the wall and do not roll up or down. Not even manually. Basically, like the screen in a movie theatre. However, these fixed screens will be smaller in size and will take into consideration the special requirements of homes, offices, and classrooms. Such screens are useful in home theatres and as supplementary screens in classrooms. Sometimes, in classrooms, the fixed screens will also double as whiteboards. The benefit of a screen is that you will get a larger screen for a relatively affordable price.
