Freezers

A freezer is a mechanical device that stores and secure frozen food at a significantly lower temperature. This is a common household item a special type of freezer is also used at the commercial level.

Commercially these machines are useable for storing cold items like ice creams, ice cubes, or frozen food.  A freezer is something where you can store food for the long term. Generally, these are available as a smaller compartment in the upper side of a standard refrigerator. But a larger freezer is a stand-alone machine that comes with two or one compartments. These freezers are ideal for storing large amounts of food for a long time. The shallow temperature makes these devices ideal for commercial places like restaurants, hotels, or cafeterias in schools/colleges.

Basic types of freezers and their uses

This is a relatively modern invention that got fame after WW II. But today, it is simply impossible to imagine a household without this primary cooling and freezing device. It has become the most common way for people to preserve meat and other food items. Freezing the food protects it from mould, bacteria, and early rotting. These machines are also ideal for people who prefer to shop less. They buy large quantities of food to save both time and money. A stand-alone style is an economical alternative to purchasing a refrigerator with a bigger size. Therefore, considering the varying needs and demands of users, we can find different types of freezers. These vary in style, size, features, and preferred use.

The chest freezer

This is the most economical type available in the market. Typically, they look like a larger chest of the box with a lid that opens upward. Because of the lid, the chest freezer demands sufficient space with headroom. These styles are available in a compact size (smaller as 2.1 cube feet). Or you can find bigger sizes used commercially (more than 40 cubic feet of space). Commonly you can see these freezers in utility rooms, the basement of the house and garages etc. Due to larger boxy dimensions, these freezers are ideal for storing bulky items. Otherwise, these items do not fit well in the freezer section of a vertical (standing) refrigerator.

The drawer freezers

These styles are common in commercial kitchens or gourmet kitchen settings. These machines offer convenience to cooks who need items handy while cooking. With a little bit of research, you can find these freezers in a variety of finishes. These include stainless steel so that they can aesthetically harmonise with other appliances. Or you can get them custom made to match with the kitchen cabinets. Here you can also find ready to use drawer freezer as cabinet high. These are easy to install and blend well with your kitchen interior. Hence looking just like a drawer set or standard cabinet.

The upright freezers

If you have a limited budget, this type of freezing machine should be out of the list. They are expensive and cost a bit more than the chest freezer. But the convenience they offer makes them worth paying the high price. Also, you can keep them in the garage or central kitchen. Some have even installed them in the basement because their upright construction makes them easy to adjust in compact places, giving complete freedom of access. These models are also ideal for they offer easy access to stored food. If you have joint or back pain issues, look for an upright freezer and never bend again to dig through the piles of frozen food. Plus, they are easier to clean and maintain.

Portable freezers

Everything has become portable for ease of access, so is the case with the freezers. These are smaller versions of a standard box style. Due to compact design and other features, they are easier to transport items prone to spoiling without proper temperature. We can say that these styles are a modern alternative to iceboxes or coolers, previously used for transporting frozen items without spoiling. These portable machines use both DC and AC power, and some also come with cords that allow them to get power through a cigarette lighter outlet in a car.
