Types of fishing equipment you need to invest in 

Once you have the right gear, you don’t need anything else to start that on-the-spur fishing trip. Be it alone or with a few close pals; it’s fun either way. The best thing is that it’s an activity that you can spend hours doing and you don’t need to spend a lot either. A lot of people would happily take it over a day of partying or a night out. It’s also ideal to club fishing with a picnic that the whole family can enjoy. Once you’re done, you can get some quiet time fishing, or ask your family and friends to join in too. While long hours are ideal for fishing, it’s equally reasonable to put in a few after a long day to ease your stress. This is also the best time to teach your children, as they are much better learners while growing up. 

Fishing rods and hooks 

The two primary components, fall into the must-have fishing gears and equipment section. You need a good fishing rod, and one as a backup too. The hooks should work well with the rod and be sturdy and able to bear the weight of the catch. This changes depending on the brand and the type of fishing that you intend to do. Fishing bait 

Among other types of fishing gear and equipment, fishing bait is critical. You can either go for a live feed or the artificial ones. Live feed can be small worms, prawns or shrimp, whichever you have easy access to. However, if you don’t have the right device to store it, it can result in a messy affair until you reach the fishing spot. The artificial bait looks just like prawns or worms but is fake. However, you tend to get better results with real fish, as they can be easily identified because of the smell, sight and other factors. You can try out both and see what works out better for you. 

Sinkers 

You may have often noticed that your line does not go far no matter how now you throw it. At times, if you do throw it far, you end up waiting very long until a fish reaches the bait. This generally happens if the distance between the boat and rod is less and your movements can alarm the fish, causing them to swim away instead of closer. A good sinker can help with this situation. These are like small weights that are tied at the end of the rod and used to throw it as far as possible. Generally, they are made of lead, but a lot of countries have banned this since consuming lead can be highly toxic. The newer ones are made of other heavy metals. The latest ones are perfect because as soon as the fish grabs it, you can feel it on the rod and start pulling. For the older ones, the fish needs to start moving for you to be able to start rolling. 

First aid kit 

Something that a lot of people seem to miss out on, this aspect is very critical. Especially if you go by yourself, a first aid kit is something that will help immensely until you are fine to go to the shore and back home. Put together a small and basic one with all the essentials. Gauze, cotton, antiseptic, bandages and painkillers are a must. You can easily ask any pharmacy to put one together for you. Make sure it’s not heavy, so you can keep it in the boat while fishing. Its also highly advised to have a kit with you if you go fishing with your kids. Make sure you know how to do primary dressings and clean up a wound or cut.
