Yasmine Eau de Parfum
Yasmine Eau de Parfum
Yasmine is by all appearances soft and quiet. Yet at the same time, she conducts herself with a rare force and charming beauty. Some of the less determined would find her distant, maybe cold, but appearances are notoriously misleading. Bewitching Yasmine, a unique beauty and like many intriguing women, her scent is hot and cold. The unique sharpness of rich, strong coffee is set off against a creamy spice accord, complete with aromatic cardamom. With an ambition that doesn’t look back, and the feminine allure to match – rich billowing white vanilla, honeyed with hints of jasmine draws your attention instantly, and as you lean in for more, a wisp of incense floats away, with a mysterious note of Laotian oud. The Bewitching Yasmine is a rare beauty with a a one-way ticket, and if you’re lucky, you’ll be the one to fall under her charm. Discover Yasmine Eau de Parfum from the Portraits Collection.

Quercus Eau de Cologne
Quercus Eau de Cologne
More restrained than a traditional cologne. But with just as much va-va-voom. Not as stiff as an evening shirt but as strong as a pre-dinner drink. Not as instantly recognisable as a citrus, but with just as much zest. But pray, what lies behind the confusion? Could it be basil? Basil! Bright as day, and fresh as a sun-warmed mountain stream. Accompanied by clean white floral notes (jasmine, lily of the valley) and cardamom, here lies the most singular freshness – without any of the discomfort of the unrecognisable and the new. The moss that cushions the transition of this olfactory journey (into almost sunny amber depths) meets patchouli to take us back to familiar ground. Quercus, as everyone knows, is Latin for oak, and the British national tree. It’s familiar, but terribly strange.

Orange Blossom Eau de Toilette
Orange Blossom Eau de Toilette
All the stimulating sensations of a stroll through orange orchards in bloom. Bathed in sunlight and perfumed with honeyed floral mists, that rise and fall from the tiny innocent white blooms. To the warm blossom-scent, some more vigorous Lemon-Cedrat, violet leaf and pink berries/pepper? The Calabrian orange and bergamot are resplendently complemented with peach flowers, rose, tuberose and jasmine. And because an orchard is full of trees… cedar unifies the vanilla and musks that create a satisfying shady base.

Sohan Eau de Parfum
Sohan Eau de Parfum
Ambitious, intelligent and astute, Sohan from Penhaligon’s has worked diligently with flair and talent to establish himself in the world of affairs. Although he may be uncompromising in his drive, he certainly knows how to transform his business relationships into amicable ties; Lord George and Lady Blanche are always thrilled to welcome a well-traveled, worldly guest. His fragrance is that of a thoroughly unfamiliar rose – a rose with oversized thorns. A juicy, tangy rose that knows nothing of coy discretion, for it is paired with a powerful, yet refined oud that knows when to charge onward. But ever the diplomat, Sohan’s oud knows how to charm and negotiate between his Middle Eastern associates and the Western palate, with the perfect amount of musky vetiver to ground the whole discussion. The gifts of pink pepper and saffron don’t hurt, nor does the smoothing effect of creamy sandalwood. The Uncompromising Sohan makes a confident, distinctive statement with ease and elegance. Dis…

Iris Prima Eau de Parfum
Iris Prima Eau de Parfum
Iris Absolute. The regal Prima Ballerina. Delicacy in her every movement. The precision is resolute. On stage the lights go up with bergamot. A flood of radiant transparency. A whirl of pink, the energy of peppercorn and amber pirouettes make the whole rounded, arrondi. From the wings, the Iris makes an entrance, reaching high to bow down low, lofty softness and powdery grace, but Orris root must come back to earth. A pas de deux with Himalayan Jasmine. Majestic femininity, the strength of flight. Leather hints at the back stage preparations: the flesh of ballet shoes that fall and rise point-to-point on sandalwood. Vanilla and benzoin remind us that we are also skin to skin.

Lily of the Valley Eau de Toilette
Lily of the Valley Eau de Toilette
The sweetness of this soliflore is first of all one of character. With the gentility (of experience) and the innocence (of youth) here is a flower that hangs its bells coyly, that delicately shares its perfume. But a soliflore made from a fine orchestration of notes. The opening is as fresh as May and as optimistic as Spring, geranium brings composure and stature to this citrus. As this imagined and romanticised creamy white flower continues to open its petals, rose, ylang ylang and jasmine release their scent. And because discretion is a virtue; one could almost be unaware of the sandalwood and oakmoss that give Lily of the Valley a timeless and forever finale. Royal wedding posies have taken note.
