A saw is a unique cutting tool that consists of a tough blade, chain or wire with a hard toothed edge. It is used to cut through the material. Today, we can see the sawing machines in use for cutting wood or hard sheets of metal.

Saws have been in use for centuries and have branched out to fill specific niches according to material, technology, and time. However, since day one, the saws are helping in fine cutting o hard materials. These cuts are usually made by placing the toothed edge against the material or block and moving it forcibly forth and less forcibly backwards. This force can be applied by hand or powered by electricity, water, steam, or any other power source. A sawing machine has a power source that makes it more efficient and speedier to do the job.

Types of power saws available in market

There are many specialized cutting tools available in the market. But not all of them are used outside of the job they are initially designed for. The same is the case with saws. Surprisingly, they also have different regional names across the globe.  When handheld saws are among the least choices of users’ mechanical saws are gaining immense popularity. Rather than just replacing many handheld saws, the powered saws have massively evolved into a niche of their own. For example, the radial arm saw can work as a mitre saw or a circular saw. Here are some common types of sawing machines that you can find online.

The band saws

The band saw comes in portable and stationary types. A stationary band saw a tall, floor-standing saw that uses larger pulleys above and below the cutting table to move a bar continuously. The continually moving fine teeth can cut through most material. These saws are perfect for intricate curve cutting in wood blocks or slabs. Likewise, they are also ideal for cutting PVC, pipes, tubes and other such materials. With certain limitations, a portable band saw also serve the same way. Here a plus point is that you can carry the saw with you anywhere. Such saws can help cut pipes with 3 to 4 inches diameter.

The chain and chop saws

A chain saw is a commonly known type across the globe, and as the name implies, the saw uses a linked chain with different ripping teeth. Even though they are designed differently, they still fall under the category of the band saw. These saws are ideally for tree work and other types of forestry work. A chop saw, on the other hand, is the largest portable version of a circular saw. They are available in both masonry and metal cutting versions. A concrete chop saw comes with toothless blades and include a water line to reduce dust while cutting.

Circular and compound mitre saw.

A circular saw is also known as a buzz saw or Skilsaw. These sawing machines use toothed blades typically between 7 to 9 inches. They are the most common type of power saw with a blade that can cut almost all masonry, plastic, metal, and wood. At the same time, a compound mitre saw is used for making mitre straight or compound cuts. Instead of pivoting up and down, here, the blade is mounted on the arm. Also, you can adjust difficult angles, including cuts of complex scroll works and trims. The compound mitre saw is believed to be one of the best time savers for trimming out windows or adding crown moulding.

Flooring and jigsaw machines

A flooring saw (floor sawing machine) is a portable unit meant to re-saw treated flooring like laminate, bamboo, engineered or hardwood to fit in well. This specialized tool truly replaces mitre and table saw, and many other accessories that you need to treat or cut the floor. Here the portability is the biggest advantage. Likewise, a jigsaw is also a handheld, short, fine-toothed bladed saw. It can move up and down at varying speeds. Along with a few others, a jigsaw is specifically designed for cutting curves and other non-straight lines.
